Get .hacked

You pronounce it "dot-hacked," it's a play on the title of this RPG series, see and... aww, forget it.

Well, it's time. Time for you to step back into The World. You know, The World, .hack's fancy-pants massively multiplayer online construct that's actually offline because it's a game within a game? Yeah, that one, the one that just blew your mind from sheer description alone. After starting strong and petering out into a limp ending, Namco Bandai Games decided to reboot (oho, punny!) the series with the G.U. storyline, and they're already one game into it.The sequel, //G.U. Vol. 2: Reminisce, has finally hit stores.

Happy dance time while we listen to this quote!

".hack is a series whose mysteries grow deeper with every installment," mused Makoto Iwai, EVP and COO at NBGA (that's Namco Bandai Games America). "The G.U. trilogy pulls players into a twisting storyline inside 'The World' and challenges them to determine the nature of reality by trapping them in a game-within-the-game."

Right you are, Makoto, it's twisty and challenging and... aw, who are we kidding, we haven't played it yet. Hopefully, though, we'll get our chance right along with you folks, and as soon as we do, we'll make sure to a pass along our verdict. If you can't wait that long, the game should be on store shelves tomorrow morning (tonight if you've been good and you know where to look. But you haven't. And you don't).
