There are few things in this industry that make our whole office break out into random happy dances like hearing that truly nice guys like the Harmonix team and their newest publishing partners, Red Octane getting some proper awards love. We're talking about Guitar Hero, of course, but we still say Harmonix should have been given more than a pat on the back for Amplitude and FreQuency, but love is love.

"Guitar Hero was made possible through the hard work of two dedicated teams who believed in this title - Harmonix and RedOctane," gushed Kai Huang, President of RedOctane. "We are thrilled to be recognized by our peers in the video game industry and we would like to thank all of those who were involved in making Guitar Hero a great success."

For those wondering, D.I.C.E. is more than just a cool acronym that conjures up images of gambling away your life at a Vegas craps table, it's also the home of an awards show in Vegas that lets the industry congratulate itself without the press ripping on their stuff and get a little recognition from the guys who actually know how hard it is to make a good game -- the people making them. Every year the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences doles out awards for outstanding games. Guitar Hero walked away with five of 'em:

-Outstanding Innovation in Gaming
-Outstanding Achievement in Soundtrack
-Outstanding Achievement in Game Play Engineering
-Outstanding Achievement in Game Design
-Family Game of the Year

Now stop reading this and go buy yourself a copy. We'll see you next mont--whaa? So what if you already have one, you need two controllers for proper rocking anyway, so you really have no excuse. No a lack of money isn't one of them, haven't you ever heard of robbing a bank? Jeez, kids these days...
