Celebrate the 25 Days of Guitar Hero Xmas
Seriously, do it or Red Octane will have you destroyed.
Published: December 1, 2005
Those cats at Red Octane are nothing if not supercharged with promo tie-in superpowers these days. We're willing to bet it's got something to do with the boys and girls at Reverb Communications, but that's just our guess. Regardless, the unsurprising success of Guitar Hero (see, Konami, you should have let Harmonix release it here under the Guitar Freaks name) has meant no shortage of deals with companies like Gibson and more recently a handful of spots all over MTV's various outlets.
The latest, though, is probably the coolest yet. RO and Vans (yes, the shoe guys) have teamed up for their "25 Days of Guitar Hero Xmas." Note the cleverly changed title of Christmas that no doubt confirms that there will indeed be a homicidal robotic Santa descending from the skies in his rocket sleigh any day now.
By simply visiting Vans' official web site and submitting your name and address to the Great Internets, you'll be entered into the contest (which starts today). Said contest will offer daily winners that get themselves a Guitar Hero bundle (that's the game and mini-Gibson controller), a 1 year sub to Alternative Press Magazine, some Vans tchotchkies and a Vans t-shirt.
The real fun, though, will come from the runners-up. They get all the stuff the daily winners get, plus three lucky winners will get a set of Logitech 2.1 speakers and a pair of Vans Sk8-Hi limited edition Bad Religion shoes. The grand prize winner gets all that, has the speakers upgraded to Logitech's 5.1 surround set, and walks home with a brand new Gibson Baldwin Sprint SG Guitar.
Oh, screw this, uh, the contest is totally off, definitely don't go and register so we'll actually have a chance at this thing. Seriously, we were just kidding about the contest. There's no Gibson up for grabs. Nobody likes free shoes anyway, right? Right? Aw crap.
