What's a gamer to do while eagerly awaiting Guitar Hero III? As if you were even wondering: relive the past with Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s, of course. Just as the game went gold, we got word that the game would be shipping with 9 more tracks that hadn't been mentioned until that point -- unexpected, and completely awesome news that we were happy to report.

So what's Guitar Hero Encore bringing to the table? The formula is a familiar one by now: play songs, unlock guitars and characters, and play in various venues while embarrassing yourself in front of your friends who will be sure to remind you of your not so stellar performance for days afterwards.

While not as innovative as the upcoming Guitar Hero III, there's no shortage of retro music to keep gamers occupied. From Iron Maiden, to Poison, to Flock of Seagulls, it seems as if Harmonix is saying, "Here, take this, sit down, and be quiet while we finish up our next masterpiece." We can't complain.
