Godzilla Unleashed Coming to PS2
The formerly Nintendo system-only beat-'em-up gets a PS2 injection, complete with exclusive content.

Though it's certainly not a huge deal, nor is it terribly surprising given the hardware in place previously, the fact that Atari's Godzilla: Unleashed, which was previously a Wii- and DS-exclusive, is headed to the PlayStation 2 as well is good news for folks that just can't get enough of huge ass monsters tearing through a city (which should be, well, almost everyone).
"We are excited to bring Godzilla: Unleashed to the PlayStation 2 system," giggled Keehwan Her, Producer at Atari. "We've made some interesting adaptations from past Godzilla games, so players will encounter different story modes, new monster abilities, and more flexible multiplayer capabilities, ensuring a must-have Godzilla experience."
Those past Godzilla games started out strong with Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee (which only appeared on the original Xbox and GameCube), but faltered a little with Godzilla: Save the Earth on the PS2 and Xbox. Original developer Pipeworks has been on hand for all three iterations, and they're hoping Unleashed will spruce up the gameplay a little.
If exclusive content means anything (and, usually, it doesn't), the PS2 version will get monsters not seen in the other two games (bringing the total count to more than 20), plus all the branching storylines, the nine destructible areas and the four-player goodness that is in those other versions. Here's to hoping Pipeworks can bring back the magic, because who doesn't want to chuck a monster through a skyscraper? That's right, everybody wants to do that.
