Chalk up another one for comic superheroes gone videogame stars, as Majesco has announced it's already working diligently on a game based on Ghost Rider, after striking up a deal with Marvel earlier this year. With Climax Group handling development, the game is slated for both PlayStation 2 and PSP releases in summer 2006, in conjunction with the movie release by the same name (with Nicholas Cage as the rider himself).

"Given its unique mix of motorcycle combat, supernatural themes and popular Marvel characters, Ghost Rider is the perfect property to translate into a video game," suggests Jesse Sutton, president of Majesco. "The simultaneous release of our game and the feature film event will ensure that Ghost Rider is next summer's biggest Super Hero."

For those not familiar with the comic series, Ghost Rider follows the story of Johnny Blaze, a motorcycle stunt rider who was forced into selling his soul to the evil Mephistopheles to save the life of his father. Now, he rides the night as Ghost Rider, and is sworn to vanquish the evil that forever rendered him soulless.

Ghost Rider is said to be a combination of both combo-based combat and high-speed action onboard the Hell Cycle. For authenticity's sake, acclaimed comic writers Garth Ennis and Jimmy Palmiotti are handling the game's sure-to-be unique storyline.

As mentioned, Ghost Rider isn't scheduled to heat up consoles (and theatres) until next summer, but we'll keep tabs on the game as development progress nonetheless. Stay tuned.
