Fresh off an announcement that DreamWorks' animated flick for the summer, Over the Hedge, would be heading to consoles, another of the studio's upcoming feature films is now getting the game treatment. Flushed Away, stemming from the animated (!) minds behind Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit, follows a well-endowed rat named Roddy on an unlikely adventure through the streets and sewers of London, encountering the likes of a clever sewer rat (Syd), a boat-riding scavenger (Rita), a crooked amphibian with connections (Toad), and many others.

"This agreement with DreamWorks Animation SKG is a significant milestone for D3Publisher of America," stated Careen Yapp, vice president of licensing and business development for D3PA. "Our blueprint for success has always included both original intellectual properties, as well as licensed titles from top entertainment companies. Flushed Away will be a key title for us in 2006 and we are very pleased to be working with the DreamWorks and Aardman Animation teams to deliver a fun gaming experience that expands on the computer animated feature film."

The game itself is to be a story-driven, third-person action title, which plans to deliver all of the environments and character likenesses from the movie while introducing some new ones. Robotech: Invasion developers Vicious Cycle are at the helm for this one.

Flushed Away should be swirling to retail in Q4 2006, likely to coincide with the film's release on November 3. We'll be sure to rat out the details as they come in.
