If you've never heard of DigtalLife before, you can be forgiven. The New York-only event held by Ziff-Davis Media is one part consumer event, one part industry networking session, and one part showcase for upcoming products. With the death of E3, Ziff is apparently pretty keen on letting the average gamer in on some of the industry's more involved aspects -- and all for significantly cheaper than even the cheapest E3 ticket.

For $15, max, anyone can take a peek at upcoming products at New York's Javits Center on October 12-15. They can see upcoming games, play some games before they're actually out, and sit in on keynote speeches from some of the biggest names in the industry (EA, Sony and Microsoft are all confirmed so far). Why are we telling you about all this? Because it's important to know what DigitalLife is before learning a very important little tidbit: Final Fantasy XII is going to be playable there.

"Square Enix is thrilled to be partnering with DigitalLife to debut the market-ready version of Final Fantasy XII," beamed Square Enix President and COO Daishiro Okada. "DigitalLife's gaming pavilion is a great venue to introduce Final Fantasy XII, especially since it appeals to casual gamers in addition to our core fans. Final Fantasy XII Day is the perfect way to celebrate this remarkable game, and we are extremely honored to have a declaration from New York City."

Ah yes, there's that other bit of news. See, DigitalLife doesn't kick off until October 12th, but that's not stopping the city of New York from honoring Square Enix with their own freakin' day named after FFXII. Thrown in Times Square, on October 11th, the event will seek to pool both causal and hardcore FF fans alike -- though the especially hardcore can participate in a costume contest that started just a few minutes ago. Hit up the official site for more details, and if you happen to be in NYC come next month, maybe you should take a little trip downtown.
