TotalPlayStation Holiday Buyer's Guide 2005
We spent all year cutting through the poo to get to the good stuff, and now we're passing along our knowledge to make sure you make someone's nice list this year.

Your significant other, statistically, is probably going to be a girl. Guys seem to have some kind of video game addiction gland built in, so they pop out reaching for a controller, but girls are often intimidated or just flat-out don't like games. There's still ammunition on your side, though, and these games are the best we've seen this year at pulling the fairer sex in.
If you happen to be a girl or are just getting a gift for one that's not intrinsically tied to your ability to deliver nookie over gaming, know these entries are all girl-tested, and met with fantastic results. We tried to include as much variety as possible in the hopes that just one of these games might be that one that finally gets 'em hooked.

Fatal Frame III: The Tormented
You may play like you’re the big tough man, but let’s face it, deep down, you shriek louder than your significant other when it comes to real scares. Girls have some kind of built-in mechanism that makes them not only perfect for horror games, but usually ends up making them twice as hardcore about confronting their fears. The fact that the Fatal Frame games tend to tap females as their protagonists only helps strengthen this, and Fatal Frame III is the best of ‘em all.

Our Review Said:
“100% guaranteed to creep you out, Fatal Frame III combines the best parts of the last two games into a story that helps wrap up most loose ends nicely. It's not terribly new, but it is very, very scary.”
