TotalPlayStation Holiday Buyer's Guide 2005
We spent all year cutting through the poo to get to the good stuff, and now we're passing along our knowledge to make sure you make someone's nice list this year.

There's a Level 52 Dork in every family. They're the guys that don't get out much, might be a little over or underweight, and probably wear t-shirts with online colloquialisms that you'll never, ever understand. It doesn't matter, though, because when they pull themselves away from their 80 hour games, they're going to run the country.
The Level 52 Dork prides himself on knowing the exact kind of game he likes. Chances are he's the most well-versed of this entire bunch in what games are out there, but we've got the one thing he's probably already started begging for, and with good reason. The PlayStation 2 got the healthiest injection of role-playing games in all flavors this year, but the best we've played is the one that sticks to basics.

The Level 52 Dork
[ Action RPG | RPG | MMORPG | Strategy RPG ]
Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King
Leave it to Level 5, creators of the Dark Cloud series to finally pull Enix’s enormously successful role-playing games into full, explorable 3D. It’s not just how perfectly retro the series is, taking all the best parts of classic gameplay and updating them with graphics, but that the translation and characters are some of the best ever seen in a RPG.

"This was absolutely worth waiting for, and credit must be given to Squenix for releasing a game that bravely sticks to its guns in the face of all these ridiculously complex additions to the formula that Dragon Quest got right all along."
Also Try:
[Champions: Return to Arms | X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse | Magna Carta: Tears of Blood | Xenosaga Ep. II: Jenseits von Gut und Bose]
