We spent all year cutting through the poo to get to the good stuff, and now we're passing along our knowledge to make sure you make someone's nice list this year.

The Action Buff enjoys things that 'splode. 'Splode lots. In fact, the more things that go bump in the night to shoot or mysteriously stair-like ledges there are to climb, the happier they are. While not quite the pure speed freak that the Adrenaline Junky may be, the Action Buff knows that a well-stocked arsenal is far more potent bang for the buck than tinkering with gear ratios for hours on end.
The Action Buff got the best treat in the history of the PlayStation 2 this year with a port of the GameCube stunner that rocked the industry earlier this year, but lucky him, there were more amazing games in this category than any other, and any pick here will make them a very happy camper.

Resident Evil 4
The best game in Capcom’s venerable survival horror series just happens to be one of the PlayStation 2’s best action games. Yes, we’re calling it action because there’s far less things that go bump in the night, but it’s still as good as the series has ever been, and a must-have for PS2 owners.
