Hulk: Ultimate Destruction Developer Tips - Part 1

Radical Entertainment's (that'd be the developer, in case you were confused) Dave Forsey, Eric Holmes and Greg MacMartin fill in you in a few tips straight from the guys who made the game.

What follows are some of the most basic and important things to remember, written by the same people that helped craft the game. You'd be wise to listen up, since they're what's going to help save your butt and ease frustration as you assume the role of everyone's favorite embodiment of the 'roid rage.

1. Smash and Save
There are many ways to earn smash points. Smashing simple objects, such as bus stations, street-lights, etc. will yield very few points. However, completing objectives, defeating enemies/strike teams and playing side missions will yield far more.

Keep track of how many points you earn over time, and revisit the church regularly to check the availability of new moves and their cost. Don’t assume that purchasing the most expensive moves is necessarily the best tactic over buying cheaper ones! Pay attention to your own playing style, and save up for the moves that enhance your personal style of play.

2. Charge For Power
Every move the Hulk can make is chargeable! Hold the button down and Hulk will start to glow. The bigger the glow, the more powerful the blow, hitting your enemies with extra damage or even an extra finisher. Additionally, many of the moves create shockwaves for a wide area effect, meaning you can hit multiple enemies at once. Charging increases the size of the blast and the amount of damage suffered by each foe.

3. Critical Mass
Everyone knows that the madder Hulk gets, the stronger he gets. This is true for the game too, so get into Critical Mass – and stay there. When you’re in Critical Mass, all your attacks will do additional damage – combine this with Charging, and Crusher moves and you have the ability to unleash hell on demand. Even some of the more powerful enemies can be defeated with a single blow when you max charge the right crusher when in Critical Mass. You’ll be ripping tank armour like it was tissue paper.

4. When in doubt, Devastate.
Devastators are your friend. Make sure you buy the “Critical Atomic Slam” in chapter 1 as soon as you can. Armed with this, you’ll be near-unstoppable. When Hulk is in CRITICAL MASS, he can unleash a single devastating attack that will obliterate the opposition, tossing cars for blocks and toppling buildings like a house of cards.

5. Regenerate
Did you know that Hulk can regenerate tissue faster than Wolverine? It may seem a little un-Hulk-like, if you’re feeling the hurt you should run like hell. Find a quiet spot – wait a few seconds, and you’ll see your health will quickly regenerate. The good news: If Hulk hasn’t taken damage for a few seconds, he’ll quickly heal back to around ¾ of your total health. The bad news: to get back into Critical Mass you’re going to have to break some heads. Hmmm...is that really bad news?

6. Air Recovery
Floated into the air? Buy “Air Recovery” to stay in the fight. With Air Recovery you can immediately upright yourself, and go straight into a counter attack, or a dodge. If you fight the MLRS launchers or a crowd of Hulkbusters and don’t have this move, you’re going to hurt. Rather than being the green punching bag, I suggest you air recover – and rewrite the book on pain.

This move is critical! I can’t stress it enough. Buy it. Buy it now.
