WHAT?! Could it be true? Could PS2 games actually be getting cheaper?

Sony Computer Entertainment America has announced that they will be bringing their "Greatest Hits" series to the PlayStation 2. In the late 20[sup]th[/sup] century (seems kinda strange saying that) Sony introduced the discount game line for the original PlayStation. However, in order to become part of the "Greatest Hits" lineup of titles, they have to meet a certain criteria.

The criteria is as follows:
[li]The game must be at least nine months old
[li]The game must have sold at least 400,000 copies

The first four titles to become "Greatest Hits" are the following: ATV Offroad Fury, Twisted Metal: Black, Dark Cloud, and Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec; all of which are from Sony.

There is also some speculation that at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E[sup]3[/sup]) this May, SCEA may also cut the price of the PS2 itself, as well as reduce the price of its regular issue games.

The games in the "Greatest Hits" series will retail for $24.99, and will be available starting on April 1[sup]st[/sup]. We'll have full coverage of E[sup]3[/sup] so be sure to check in for live up-to-the-minute coverage this May.
