E3: Midway Exposes PS2 Lineup

Midway presented it's full lineup of titles at the 2001 Electronic Entertainment Expo today.

It seems that Midway will be going 'all the way' with a massive blitz of new titles for all next generation consoles, including the PlayStation 2.


Behind closed doors, Midway displayed an array of various PS2 titles, showing off game footage, CG work and additional artwork. The games revealed during this presentation ranged from remakes of classic titles such as a three-dimensional Defender, to an array of sports titles and fighting games.

Two games within Midway's list that come to mind are Defender and Mortal Kombat 5. Simply titled as Defender, the new game has been described as dazzling and detailed. A third-person perspective has been achieved to show off alien landscapes and ship designs. Defender has simply been described as everything that Defender 2000 (for the Atari Jaguar) should have been back in 1996.

Mortal Kombat 5's appearance on the list confirms it's presence on the PS2, something that we have known for quite a while now. Here is a full listing of PS2 offerings:
