Sarah Michelle Gellar has been disposing of the undead on television for some time now, so why not let her make an appearance in a video game? Thanks to Vivendi Universal Games, now she will be, as they have announced that Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Chaos Bleeds is currently in the works for the PlayStation 2 (as well as Xbox and Gamecube). Developed by Eurocom Entertainment Software and licensed by Fox Interactive, Chaos Bleeds is a third-person fighting adventure game and is being classified as the "lost episode" from season five of the TV series, Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

The game's setting stays true the TV series by basing the adventure in Sunnydale, California. The plot unravels after Pure Evil enables a dimensional bleed in order to consume all of humanity. To put a stop to this, of course, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and her friends must embark on an adventure throughout Sunnydale in order to prevent Pure Evil's sinister plan.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Chaos Bleeds will be a deep thriller from start to finish, and technically will feature a strong story and character foundation in order to deliver an action-packed adventure. Players will be able to navigate through familiar Sunnydale locations from the show, as well as play as any one of the show's five popular characters -- Faith, Willow, Xander, Spike and Sid the Dummy. Each playable character will be feature with a good amount of originality, such as special powers and abilities, and will also be voiced by many of the show's cast members.

"Over the course of seven years, the Buffy series has developed millions of ardent fans -- many of whom are console gamers," said Michael Pole, SVP & General Manager of VU Games. "Fans of the show will embrace being able to play the part of their favorite Buffy characters in a fully interactive gaming experience."

Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Chaos Bleeds will be available in August 2003 for a retail price of $49.99 and rated "T" for "Teen".
