The Web Gets A Little Nastier

Sure, the web is rife with porno, but that won't stop Acclaim from adding a little more dirt to the mix.

Many, many, MANY people throughout the industry have wondered why Acclaim would take one of the winningest franchises and toss out the big names associated with it for scads of naked girlie-flesh and gyrating Scores girls on video. The answer is about as plain as the reaction in the pants from about 99% of the pubescent teenage boys that just read "naked girlie-flesh and gyrating Scores girls." Sex sells. More to the point, unlockable sex sells, and if the closet enthusiasm over Acclaim's revamped BMX XXX (essentially Dave Mirra without the pro riders) brand is any indication, it'll sell well.

To get the word out to the masses (you know, the guys that don't read gaming sites all the time), Acclaim has launched the official site for BMX XXX, and it's chock full o' goodness on the game, from banned print ads to features on the game to movies and screen shots -- but only if you're 17 or older. Those that aren't... Well, you might have to fib a bit.

"BMX XXX is the talk of the industry, sparking heated debates over how video games have gotten older and bolder," beamed Acclaim Senior Brand Manager Ben Fischbach. "Our site reflects the game's over-the-top humor and offers a sneak-peak at the ground-breaking direction that we are taking interactive entertainment. The fact that certain media outlets would not run our print advertisements from our 'Keep it Dirty' marketing campaign, reinforces our belief that we are creating something truly unique that will change the way people play and think about video games."

It remains to be seen how the game will be received by the general public, but the site is a good way to get the dirt on the... well, dirt. Enjoy.
