Winning... Ten?

You knew it was coming; Konami's footy sim hits double-digits.

For the truly hardcore, there is only one football, and it's not played with a pointy ball and lots of padding. We're neither hardcore nor fans of getting our asses kicked when we point this out to fans of American football, so we just tend to avoid both sports altogether (well, all except for Chris, who loooooves his Sunday games).

Now don't tell anyone here in the US, but apparently this "soccer" thing is pretty popular, and with a worldwide market for games based on this "soccer", there's plenty of room for said games to sell well all over the place. So well, in fact, that the real freaks can easily carry a title on the strength of international sales and overcome the numbers that even juggernauts like EA can post with their FIFA series -- even without the FIFA license.

Even here in the States, Konami's Winning Eleven series commands serious respect from reviewers, and it's no surprise that the Big K (no, the other one) is all too happy to bring the good ol' US of A their tenth game. Winning Eleven 10 will make its official debut at E3 in a week and a half -- a first for the series. We'll have to wait until then (or close to it) to get the skinny on what the game will offer in terms of new gameplay features, but at least we can get an enthusiastic pull quote from creator and E3 first-timer Shingo "Seabass" Takatsuka.

"This marks my first trip to E3 and I am greatly looking forward to this chance to expand the game’s amazing popularity to a wider, global level," giggled Seabass, He then used his magic mind powers and sensed us about to crack a joke about kicking ass and glared at us. We cried and decided against it. But we still mentioned that we were thinking about it, who's the big guy now, Seabass, hmmmmmmmm?

So long as Seabass doesn't choke us to death with his mind or make our heads explode or something, we'll have more as soon as we hear about it.
