Kung Fu Samurais Are Coming

When the Far East meets the, um, Farther East.

We’ve all pretended to be ninjas at one time or another (don’t lie to yourself, it’s unbecoming). Also, we’ve all stayed up late and watched those kung fu flicks where the mouths don’t match the words. Well what if you could have ninjas and kung fu in your life at the same time? Impossible, you say? Nah.... it’s much closer to happening than you think.

KOEI, the leaders of all that is good and Asian, are putting that dream to the test by announcing Warriors Orochi for the PlayStation 2. Kung fu, ninjitsu, Feudal Japan, samurais, and the Three Kingdoms all rolled into a nice California roll for your consumption. Now don’t worry; it isn’t China vs. Japan so you don’t have to pick sides. You will unite against a bigger evil than Nobunaga or Lu Bu, though. His name Serpent King Orochi and he wants to play a game called “Kill Me If You Can.”

"Warriors Orochi will introduce players to the most explosive Warriors action to date, and the most venomous enemy they may ever face, the evil Serpent King Orochi. So awesome are Orochi and his army that players will need the combined forces of history's greatest warriors to challenge them", boasts KOEI’s Senior VP of Sales and Marketing, Amos Ip. "In the game, we'll finally get to see and create some amazing team-ups, and we'll even witness long-awaited confrontations between characters from both franchises."

Team-ups are one of the main focuses of this title. For the first time you can have three characters go into a battlefield, with one out and the others in recovery. Another cool tidbit is the “Weapon Fusion” aspect used in this game, allowing you to combine weapons to get the best of both worlds in terms of abilities and power. Hmm... Hattori Hanzo sword mixed with the Masamune anybody?

So keep your eyes peeled and your senses on high alert. Them ninjas are some stealthy buggers.
