This week, it seems that while playing a preview copy of Twisted Metal: Black, editors over at GameSpot were able to discover a compatibility feature with a well-known PlayStation 2 steering wheel product.

Hidden within the debug menus of the game, a submenu for various force feedback tweaks was uncovered. All of the tweaks seemed to be geared specifically at Logitech's force-feedback steering wheel. The wheel was released in Japan to coincide with the release of Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec. The wheel was found to be perfectly compatible with the preview copy.

Some features, such as the ability to move in reverse and the utilization of special moves were absent from the compatibility options. Moreover, special moves will most likely be triggered by an directional combination on a controller. It remains to be seen just how the steering wheel will be able to perform such maneuvers.

Much like in Gran Turismo 3, the wheel adds a whole new spin on Twisted Metal: Black, by providing varying amounts of resistance during sharp turns, and when your vehicle collides or knocks over.

Smaller vehicles seem to be easier to steer and control, with bigger vehicles proving to be a tougher challenge. It is hoped that more information regarding this compatibility between the game and the wheel will be uncovered during E3. We will keep you posted as more information becomes available.
