For years now, Neversoft's Tony Hawk games have shipped with a park editor. It's a fun way to use the same assets the big boys use to craft custom parks (though admittedly nothing near as big as the levels they design), and helps extend the life of the game -- especially if you play online.

To try and drum up a little more support for custom park submissions and to test the mettle of would-be designers, Activision and Jeep have formed an unholy pact of marketing muscle that should help move a few more copies of THUG2 and get people crafting new levels.

Starting, well, yesterday and continuing on until March 15, contestants are invited to fire up their copy of THUG2 and get to whipping up something as fancy as possible. The custom park will be judged on gameplay (think: clean, original custom combo lines), creativity, originality, and, of course, how many Jeep references you can throw in. Six semi-finalists will be selected, one per week, and will appear on the contest page.

Now for the good stuff: the prizes. All winners will head home with an assortment of apparel and gear from boarding companies like Etnies, Quicksilver and Volcom. 200 items in all in addition to the grand prize smorgasbord will be offered, so get cracking. In fact, even if you don't think you have the design chops to take home a semi-finalist's spot, you can still win a 2005 Jeep Liberty Renegade if you hit up the very same contest page listed above.

What're you waiting for? Git to designing! I said git!
