The Don Will See You Now

The Godfather takes business to a new front: retail.

Well it’s about damn time. As much as we love plugging away the most up-to-date happenings of a game in development – from delays to movie tie-ins to full-blown [feature=19]features[/feature] – it’s a huge relief when we’re finally able to bring the whole shebang to a close with a terse, “It’s out.” What’s out? The Godfather’s out.

"The Godfather is one of the most exciting, dramatic and memorable works of fiction in the world and we worked very hard to create the Godfather Interactive experience," acknowledged David DeMartini, Executive Producer of The Godfather The Game.

We know, we know – you’ve been hearing all about what great fun it is to run amuck in a 40s/50s-era New York City as a fresh face in the Corleone family, but now you can finally do it. Really, go wild! Relive classic movie moments and work alongside the digital likenesses of Luca Brasi, Sonny, Tom Hagan, and the Don himself. And heck, with James Caan, Robert Duvall and the late Marlon Brando offering their pipes to the game, there’s really no stopping a wanna-be mobster like yourself from basking in the authenticity, is there?

"Our goal has always been to maintain the legacy of The Godfather and empower players to interact in the world based on one of the most remarkable motion pictures of all time," explained Sandi Isaacs, Vice President of Interactive at Viacom Consumer Products. "Electronic Arts has been an exceptional partner and we're incredibly excited to launch one of the most anticipated games of the year."

The offer comes in two forms: the standard version for $39.99, and a limited edition, with tasty behind the scenes content including footage from the star-powered voice over sessions, all for $10 more. You’ll get yours later this year, PSP owners.
