Little mini-sites for games have become commonplace nowadays, with nearly every big name title (and plenty of games that wish they were) getting the digital treatment with a smattering of bite-sized images from the already released press kits and teases of actual details about the games' story (if there is one). The problem is, as nice as it sometimes is to get info on a game from an official web site, often times you'll find higher-resolution pictures and more info from a preview tossed about somewhere on the internet.
Lucky for us, it appears Sony Computer Entertainment Europe saw the rising epidemic of lackluster, half-assed mini-sites and sought to quell it with a counter of their own: the official site for The Getaway, Team Soho's insanely ambitious project that'll hit PS2's all over here in the US later this year. While the site doesn't escape the mini-screenshot malady (hey, bandwidth costs money, kids), if you're looking for info on the game, there's probably no better place to find it.
The site is absolutely loaded with info on characters, locations, cars, storyline tidbits, and a slew of info on the making of the game. Like any true production, not all is revealed at first, but as we inch closer to the game's release, there should be ample opportunity to check back and get the full scoop on the game as it's readied for the masses.
If we may suggest, stopping off at the Production and Downloads sections for a mountain of behind-the-scenes explanations of the game in progress and a couple tasty wallpapers to show your pride aren't bad ideas. Either way, there's plenty to check out, so you really have no excuse, now, do you? Head on over and experience the luv.
