At their "2001 PlayStation Awards" banquet last night in Japan, Sony Computer Entertainment, Inc. handed out awards to the best games available for the PS One and PS2, with all awards being determined "by the people." In other words, awards were based on net game sales. While Enix walked away with platinum honors for selling more than 4 million copies of Dragon Quest VII since it's release, Square's Final Fantasy IX stole the show by recieving awards for graphics, sound, and other technical catagories. The PS2 titles that were also honored included Tekken Tag Tournament, The Bouncer, and Biohazard Code Veronica: Complete Edition (Resident Evil to us Yanks). Both Gran Turismo 3: A Spec (released just a few weeks ago) and Onimusha: Warlords recieved special recognition for being the only two PlayStation 2 titles to sell more than a million copies.
