Compilation, Taito Style
There’s more to ‘em than just shooters and Bubble Bobble, you know.

Retro gaming compilations are easy money. Seriously, if you’ve been around long enough to amass a collection of 20 or so of even the most obscure titles, you can repackage them as a collection, throw the whole project at someone like Digital Eclipse, who has a pretty nice handle on multi-platform emulation, charge $20 and cha-ching, it’s ha ha has all the way to the bank.
We’ve already yammered on about SEGA and Empire Interactive doing a joint publishing dealie on Taito Legends, a while back, and, well, little’s changed. You’re still getting 29 games, from Space Invaders to Operation Wolf, and it’s still going to set you back a mere Jackson. But look more quotes!
"Taito Legends offers 29 exciting arcade games that have stood the test of time," said Scott A. Steinberg, Vice President of Marketing, SEGA of America, totally copying us. "Welcome back to the early days of gaming; the only thing we've left out is the pizza grease on the joysticks."
"SEGA's distribution strength will allow a mass of consumers the benefit of playing and re-playing classic Taito arcade games - from Space Invaders to Bubble Bobble – in the comfort of their living rooms." added Ian Higgins, CEO Empire Interactive, who also totally copied us.
Our dear friends at SEGA and Empire might be fond of reiterating what we’ve just said (or is the it the other way around? oooOOOOOOOoooooo!!!), but they’ve got a point: this is a pretty fancy-pantsed collection. For the full run-down of the titles (in handy chronological order, no less), check out our earlier news.
