Nowhere to Run but Retail

Midway's third Spy Hunter update is bound for stores.

"Spy Hunter: Nowhere to Run represents the natural evolution of the Spy Hunter franchise by incorporating on foot shooting and melee combat to the driving combat experience," begins Steve Allison, chief marketing officer at Midway. "Not only will the game feature the classic driving levels the time tested–franchise is known for, but we’ve added several new gameplay elements including 3rd person action, melee combat and high–powered cinematic action moments, taking the franchise to the next level."

When Midway Chief Marketing Officer Steve Allison gives you a quote, he makes sure he lays it all out there, doesn't he? Yes, Nowhere to Run has officially shipped to stores as should be awaiting your purchase by tomorrow. And yes, it does star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson (who's in like 26 bazillion movies these days), as the game's lead. And yes, Dwayne's Alex Decker, the pilot of the legendary Interceptor, will finally be climbing out from behind the steering wheel -- a first for the series.

It's also a first for developer Terminal Reality, who are now the third developer in so many games to handle Midway's restart of the classic top-down arcade hit. Having cut their teeth on some seriously speedy shooters like Terminal Velocity (or, if you experienced it as the Microsoft clone, Fury[sup]3[/sup]) and got their hands dirty with the melee combat-heavy BloodRayne series. But how does Dywane "The Rock" Johnson feel about all this?

"It’s been a great privilege working with Midway to bring a persona to Spy Hunter’s main character, Alex Decker," thoughtfully explains Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. "From the voice–over sessions to the motion capture work, Midway allowed me to infuse the character with my own personality in every way possible."

Well there you have it. Guess there's nothing left to do now but wait for the game to hit stores or wait a little longer for our review, eh?
