A really good comic book license-based video game is rare. Sure, there have been a few really good licensed used properly (Batman, Take a look at most of the X-Men games... or Fantastic Four... or Iron Man/X-O Manowar... okay, so maybe I'm stretching a bit on that last one, but the point is, most comic license games just plain suck.
Luckily, one of the most popular and and frankly perfect comics to translate to game form, Spider-Man, has hardly sucked. First crafted by the masterful hands at Neversoft (yes, of Tony Hawk fame), then tweaked for multiple consoles by Treyarch, and now fully handled by said tweakers, the movie version of everyone's favorite wall-crawler is headed to consoles for a third web-swinging romp.
To that end, the folks over at BradyGames have so fallen in love with the latest Spider-Man game that they've decided to give it the Signature treatment, primping up the usual guide with plenty of swanky extras. What extras you ask? Behold a few bulletpoints straight from the horse's mouth:
-Special collector's edition cover with matte laminate and spot gloss varnish
-Full-color images on the inside front and back cover
-An immense collection of concept art, giving players a glimpse into the making of the game
-An exclusive Spider-Man poster
-Interviews straight from the game's developer, character histories, storyboards and more
"Spider-Man has been a childhood hero for many of us at BradyGames and we're thrilled to be a part of the excitement surrounding this game and the movie," gushes BradyGames Publisher David Waybright. "I'm confident that our enthusiasm for this property is going to show in our Signature Series guide."
Activision seems to agree: "We are very impressed with BradyGames' Signature Series line," added Justin Berenbaum, Activision's Manager of Business Development. "This Signature Series guide is a perfect tribute to the Spider-Man franchise and Spider-Man collectors will love this as much as gamers."
The guide is available now at most major videogame retailers, though if you don't feel like heading out to pick it up, you can let your credit card and modem do the walking by heading over to Brady's web site and ordering direct from the source.
