They say that the industry is bigger than Hollywood -- in terms of revenue, not ego, that is. Activision's release of Shrek the Third, based on the movie of the same name, seems to solidifiy such a claim. Those crazy about the series will be happy to know that in addition to playing Shrek, they will assume control of various other characters from the movie including Donkey, Fiona, Puss-in-Boots, Artie and Sleeping Beauty. What brings such a rag-tag cast of characters together for 20 levels of gameplay, you're wondering? Do you even have to ask? Prince Charming is at it again causing trouble in Far Far Away, and someone's gotta put a stop to his antics.

According to Vice President of Global Brand Management for Activision, Kim Salzer, the game will feature all-new storyline and characters from the Shrek universe including Artie, cousin of Fiona, and his princess Sleeping Beauty. We're also told that the game will feature a glimpse of a game called Bee Movie Game, based on the upcoming movie (again, of the same name). The Bee Movie Game is being produced by DreamWorks Animation and is set for a November 2007 release. All of this content can be had for $39.99 for both the Playstation 2 and PSP.
