This week, FGN Online had the chance to speak with Jeff Farris, lead programmer for Red Faction, a new first person shooter to arrive on the PlayStation 2 console.
Here is what Farris had to say earlier today:
[blockquote]"Developing for PlayStation 2 was very challenging, but in the end also very satisfying. It's very comforting as a programmer to know exactly what hardware you are working with."
"I think one of the biggest challenges we faced in development was translating fun FPS-style gameplay to a console. The PS2 control set-up is significantly different from a mouse and keyboard, which demanded fundamental adjustments to things like pacing and enemy behavior to maintain the same level of playability."[/blockquote]A finished version of the game is expected to be displayed at the 2001 Electronic Entertainment Expo. Red Faction for the PS2 will be hitting stores across North America on May 22nd, 2001.
