We've pretty much said all we can about R-Type Final in our interview with the development team and our massive hands-on preview. Check those out for all the relevant media and impressions, but we've just gotten word from Eidos that the game has gone gold and is already zipping its way off to be pressed into fancy-schmancy PS2 discs that all you 3D-obsessed never-played-old-school-shooter youngin' had better at least try. Us crotchety old gamers can't see another of our fond memories fade out without a fight.



And that's pretty much it, really. We've updated our preview with some gorgeous new screens, and the game will hit actual store shelves next Tuesday (that's the 3rd for those curious).
