Mooooooore Ninjas!
What, you thought you knew all there was to know about the Naruto saga? Pfffft!

There’s a good chance Masashi Kishimoto never foresaw the instant success of his humble ninja manga series when it first debuted in a 1999 issue of Weekly Shonen Jump Magazine. Or that, a year later, it would spawn a series of graphic novels to be gobbled up by some 66 million Japanese readers. Or that, down the road, Naruto and co. would land themselves an anime television series. Or that they’d eventually see a licensed videogame deal. Or that those games would see sequels! Or th—ok, you probably get the point.
To be short, the man’s ninja series has come a long way. So far along that we’re able to sit here and happily confirm, for you fans, that the surprisingly pleasant-playing and well-selling Naruto: Ultimate Ninja has done got itself a sequel.
“Naruto: Ultimate Ninja 2 delivers exactly what fans are craving, intense head-to-head ninjutsu battles and story driven gameplay” assures Naruo Uchida, Namco Bandai Games America Inc.’s Vice President of Bandai Localization. “The first title was a monstrous success and the bar has been raised even higher for the second game. More playable characters, game play modes, unlockable items and environments come together for a Naruto experience that transcends what the first Ultimate Ninja had to offer.”
How much more? Well for starters, we’ve got the swanky new Ultimate Road mode, which has players journeying through the story’s most noteworthy events in an effort to piece together the arcane Naruto saga (and an unlockable original story certainly doesn’t hurt either). The game’s cast, including the likes of Naruto, Sasake, Kakashi, Rock Lee, Gara, and Kiba, are yours to master through the 60+ missions and seven skill-testing mini-games. Like, ever fought sand ninja? Yeah, we thought so.
Beefing up your abilities is key as well, and by earning points or persisting on through the Chunin exam, transcending the ninja ranks or stacking up your strength/defense/agility/chakra will all come as nice little chunk of reward. Also back in action are Practice and VS. modes, not to mention those mountains of unlockables that are sure to suck your weekends dry.
Keep those shurikens in a safe place for now – Naruto: Ultimate Ninja 2 won’t be touching down until the summer time. No reckless ninja rampages before then, ok?
