An Automated Release
NBA 2K7 has already arrived, but it's getting a little musical push further out the door.
Published: October 3, 2006
A while back, we talked about the fortuitous coincidence that NBA 2K7 would be hitting along with a reunion of A Tribe Called Quest. The latter was on board to provide tunes for the former, and the pair would tour the countryside spitting rhymes and draining Js to eager fans of both. At the same time, though, we mentioned that Dan the Automator, would be helping out on a soundtrack for the game.
Guess what's hitting stores today?
Featuring an impressive roundup of artists and collaborators, "Dan the Automator presents 2K7" is collection of 13 tracks from E-40, Mos Def, Lupe Fiasco and Jurassic 5's Charli 2na, among others. All of the dozen tunes (plus an intro from Dan The Man) are exclusive to the soundtrack.
“We’re ecstatic to have the opportunity to work with Dan the Automator to create original music and production for the NBA 2K7 soundtrack,” gushed Tim Rosa, director of brand and lifestyle marketing for 2K Sports. “Dan is noted for his production skills, but he is also a huge sports fan with solid gaming skills. He was the perfect choice for this project.”
“It’s cool to work on NBA 2K7 with 2K Sports. They have consistently made the best hoops video game and produced by far the most diverse and representative video game soundtracks,” faithfully hyped Dan the Automator. “Basketball is a global sport and I wanted to represent that universal appeal by bringing together an eclectic mix of artists for NBA 2K7.”
The full track listing is as follows:
