Midway Games made the announcement today that Mortal Kombat: Deception has shipped off to stores. To support the release, Midway plans to kick off its largest marketing campaign ever, with TV and cinema spots, online and print advertising, coverage from the official site, the whole nine yards.

"Midway, along with the millions of MK fans around the globe, is extremely excited about the release of Mortal Kombat: Deception," gushed Steve Allison, chief marketing officer, Midway. "The Deception team has worked diligently over the past two years to ensure that this MK title will be the best yet."

MK Deception takes the formula that skyrocketed it to popularity and gives it the ol' next-gen treatment, complete with hand-to-hand and weapon combat, secret characters and returning favorites, new moves, combos and fatalities, interactive environments, and -- you guessed it -- online play.

Mortal Kombat: Deception should be available in your local retailer today or tomorrow. Expect a full review from us in the near future.
