Metal Gear Smorgasbord
All three Metal Gear Solid games are coming in one package.

Let's do some math together, shall we?
Massive budgeted next-gen Metal Gear Solid game + some 120 million PlayStation 2s out there + a collector's edition re-release of the original Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater + insane die-hard MGS fans = (hopefully) breaking even. Or at least Konami is hoping that Metal Gear Solid: The Essential Collection will put a few more greenbacks in the bank on the way up to the launch of Metal Gear Solid 4.
That's the plan, anyway.
"Since its inception, the Metal Gear Solid franchise has been one of the most successful game series in the history of video games, receiving worldwide recognition and praise," gushed Anthony Crouts, Konami Digital Entertainment's VP of Marketing. "Metal Gear Solid: The Essential Collection represents a great value for gamers, bringing together three must-have classic titles which pioneered the stealth action genre."
It's also a way to catch up on the storyline thus far, prepping you for the inevitable mind job that MGS4 will be when it hits in just a few more months. The Essential Collection will hit in mid-March, giving you juuuust enough time to plumb the first three games in the series for potential mind-blowing reveals in the fourth. We can't wait.
