Capcom Entertainment officially announced a brand new three-dimensional action/adventure title, Maximo: Ghosts to Glory for the PlayStation 2 today. Maximo has been shown off at the Tokyo Game Show in earlier years, but Capcom had maintained quiet about a North American release until now.

Maximo is a vibrant game, which will feature many various platform elements, key-type puzzles and other various surprises. Players will take on the role as Maximo, a noble knight who has returned to his homelands only to find them destroyed, and taken over by a once-trusted advisor, Achille. Maximo must traverse across colorful lands to rescue four sorceresses along with his girlfriend, Princess Sophia from the clutches of the evil Achille.

The game will feature over 40 different abilities and objects which Maximo will be able to utilize during gameplay. The game was developed in North America by a newly created Capcom studio, and under the art direction of Susumu Matsushita.

Todd Thorson, Director of Marketing for Capcom Entertainment stated the following in regards to the game today:
[blockquote]"Maximo: Ghosts to Glory marks true gaming playability at its best in an amazing 3D world. The intent was to create a game that's all about fun. It's not often a game comes along with such massive appeal. This is due to a unique combination of amazing development talent, a brilliant musical score, incredible graphics and artwork design from one of Japan's most popular artists. Capcom has spared no expense to create this blockbuster."[/blockquote]Maximo will be heading over to the PlayStation 2 just in time for Christmas 2001. We will keep you posted, as always.
