There’s no better way to show the public that everyone loves your products like featuring gamers getting free stuff (we should know, it’s the heart and soul of our contests), but EA’s taking things to new heights. They’ve teamed up with ESPN for (and you’re going to love this) a reality show featuring “the nation’s top 13 Madden NFL 06 gamers” and NFL players acting as “sponsors” competing in elimination-style tournaments across the country.
Madden Nation, they’re calling it, and it’s technically already taken place, but the results will be seen on the teevee starting tonight and continuing every Tuesday night at 11 and 11:30PM Eastern on ESPN2. The 17 day tour stretched from Los Angeles to New York and hit stops in San Diego, Phoenix, Albuquerque, Denver, Kansas City, Minneapolis, Green Bay, Chicago, Indianapolis, Baltimore, Washington, Philadelphia and uhhh... Canton, Ohio along the legs of the 4646 mile trek.
“Madden Nation will give ESPN viewers the best of both worlds: exciting, top-level competition and some of football’s best known players in the biggest game on the market,” screamed John Skipper, ESPN executive vice president of content.
“Madden Nation showcases the EA SPORTS lifestyle, giving viewers an inside look into the daily life of the biggest Madden NFL football gamers and NFL players,” squealed Todd Sitrin, vice president of marketing, EA-Tiburon and EA SPORTS. “ESPN is the perfect outlet to show this unique pairing of the top Madden NFL football players.”
