Leaping off of the top rope and slamming its way into retail outlets nationwide this holiday season, Acclaim has announced that it has shipped its highly anticipated Legends of Wrestling for the PlayStation 2. The game features an entirely new next-generation game engine and includes more than 40 wrestling legends, including Hulk Hogan, Bret "Hitman" Hart, Jerry "The King" Lawler, Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka, Rob Van Dam, Terry Funk, The Road Warriors and George "The Animal" Steele.


Steve Felsen, Senior Director of Brand for Acclaim Entertainment said the following about the announcement:

[blockquote]"Wrestling is one of the biggest categories in the video game industry and we're thrilled to launch such a powerhouse title which offers next-generation technology, innovative gameplay and the most comprehensive lineup of wrestling legends ever assembled in a video game. This is a 'must-have' title for wrestling fans of all ages, because it transcends generations and federations to deliver the best gaming experience ever brought to the squared circle."[/blockquote]While the world renowned Hulk Hogan had this to say about the game's release:

[blockquote]"Acclaim has captured all of the excitement and action of professional wrestling, and created a game which plays as great as it looks. Legends of Wrestling will create an entirely new 'mania' with gamers this holiday season that will be running wild at retail."[/blockquote]Legends of Wrestling is available now for a suggested retail price of $49.99 and has been given a "T" (teen) rating by the ESRB.
