G4 Announces Glow Award Winners
The G4 TV Network held its first ever G-Phoria celebration last night – read on to find out which games achieved the glow!

Last night marked a truly important event in the evolution of videogames, as G4, the television network for gamers by gamers, held its first ever G-Phoria celebration at the Henry Fonda Theater in Hollywood, California. G-Phoria, which was hosted by actor/comedian Jamie Kennedy, crowned a variety of videogames with their prestigious Glow Awards.
"With G-Phoria, the video game phenomenon swept into Hollywood last night, and G4 had a blast partying all night with celebrities and industry elite at the first video-game celebration of its kind," said G4 Founder and CEO Charles Hirschhorn. "The success of G-Phoria is immeasurable for G4, and we look forward to televising the show next week for video game fans across the country."
G-Phoria featured a plethora of celebrity gamers, including Elijah Wood, Dominic Monaghan, Tony Hawk, Jenna Jameson, Hal Sparks, David Gallagher, Gena Lee Nolin, Traci Bingham, Colin Hanks, Brande Roderick, Hayden Panetierre, Shaun Murray and Mia St. John. The show also featured music performances by Public Enemy and A Flock of Seagulls.
With all the glitz and glamour aside, let's get down to some of the big winners!
Game of the Year -- Grand Theft Auto: Vice City
Best Soundtrack -- Grand Theft Auto: Vice City
Best Live Action/Voice Performance Award - Female –- Jenna Jameson (Grand Theft Auto: Vice City)
Best Live Action/Voice Performance Award – Male –- Ray Liotta (Grand Theft Auto: Vice City)
Best Sports Game – Madden NFL 2003
Best Adaptation -- Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
Best Rookie Game -- Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell
Guiltiest Pleasure -- Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball
Best Brawl -- Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance
Another very honorable mention is Kingdom Hearts, which came home with the Best Story Award out of its nine nominations: Best Adaptation, Best Cinematic, Best Graphics, Best Live Action/Live Performance-Female, Best Live Action/Live Performance-Male, Best Soundtrack, Best Story, Best Villain and Coolest Cheat/Easter Egg. On hand to accept with the Best Story Award was Kingdom Hearts' direction and character designer, Tetsuya Nomura. "On behalf of the Kingdom Hearts development team, I would like to thank G4 for this award.,' said Nomura. "We are honored that our peers and fans have chosen to bestow Kingdom Hearts with this award."
"We'd like to congratulate the entire Kingdom Hearts team on their G4 award, and on behalf of Buena Vista Games and The Walt Disney Company, we are honored by the recognition the game continues to receive and we're looking forward to its ongoing success," said Graham Hopper, senior vice president and general manager, Buena Vista Games.
