1.3 Million Nerds Can’t Be Wrong

Oh dear god, the Kingdom Hearts II craze has taken full steam in North America.

Coming from someone who’s been forced to overhear the stomach-turning Disney jingles, Hollywood-inspired dialogue and redundant battle cries (“Ha!” “Take that!” “Ha!” “Ha!” “Take that!”) of a roommate’s incessant Kingdom Hearts II playing, it comes as little surprise that the game is selling well.

Square Enix is plenty aware of it too, and hasn’t hesitated to proclaim that the game has already shipped 1.3 million units in North America since its March 28 debut. In Japan, it gets worse: 1.2 million shipped in first three months, hitting the one million mark in within the first three days of its December 22 release. It’s already propelled the series to the 8.5 million mark worldwide, and certain to soar above the 10 spot with the game’s upcoming European release. Yeah, about that cursed sequel flop…

The Squenix/Disney lovefest continues in Kingdom Hearts II, with Sora, Donald and Goofy now crossing paths with well over 100 Disney characters (with celebrity talent breathing life into a good number of them) and a host of movie-inspired worlds, the newest including "Beauty and the Beast," "The Lion King," "Mulan," "Pirates of the Caribbean," "Steamboat Willie" and "Tron". Riku and King Mickey are bound to be chilling out there somewhere.

So here are your options: dig our hands-on impressions and pray we can cook up a review (hear that, Squenix?!), or frantically rush out to your nearest store and demand a copy yourself. The choice is yours – one’s just going to cost $49.99 more.
