Namco Hometek has announced a new wacky title its bringing to U.S. shores, Katamari Damacy.

"Eccentric, quirky, weird, goofy, wild, outrageous, addictive, intriguing, charismatic and captivating -- they all apply," beamed Rod Nakamoto, Executive Vice President of Research and Development for Namco Hometek Inc. "There are many words to describe Katamari Damacy -- and the most important one is FUN."

In Katamari Damacy, players take the role of the Prince of the Cosmos, whose King father, whose makes the common clumsy mistake of, uh, knocking the stars out of the sky. Apparently unable to clean up after himself, the King makes it his son's duty to clean up the mess and set the cosmos back to their original state. As the Prince, players will have to complete the task by rolling throughout several locations, collecting items and progressively building up their "katamari," Japanese for a large clump or mass. Rolling over assorted and unusual objects, including cookies, cars, mermaids, planes, clouds and heck, even people, the key being to increase your "katamari," and in turn building up your mass and allowing for more collecting. These Japanese imports just keep getting weirder and weirder…

Katamari Damacy is scheduled to tumble into U.S. stores this September. Trust us when we say this is one of the wackiest looking games to come stateside in a long while. Don't believe me? Check out the screens below, why don't ya?!
