A while back, we mentioned that Konami was smartly leveraging the American Idol name to launch a mall tour contest to see who the best amateur Karaoke Revolution singer out there. Technically it was the best Karaoke Revolution Presents: American Idol singer, but we didn't want to type out that full title. Yet we just did. Whoops.

Using the in-game versions of Simon and Randy (no, it sounds like Paula wasn't down with getting into the game), 10 finalists from all over the US were chosen based on their performances. The winner, in case you didn't read the original news story, will win a trip for two to see a live taping of the next season of American Idol at the Kodak Center in Hollywood. It's not a bad prize (though some probably wish they could've secured a slot on the actual show) for just belting out some tunes.

“The Karaoke Revolution Presents: American Idol Video Game Contest has seen a great turnout at each venue and we saw a wide spectrum of talent from each market,” quipped Konami Product Manager Matt Knoles. “The online component of the contest now allows the finalists the opportunity to share their video performances with their friends and lets visitors to www.musicineverdirection.com decide who will win the Grand Prize.”

Here are your finalists:

Atlanta, GA - Amie Brown
Boston, MA - Aisha Rosario
Chicago, IL - Kathy D’antonio
Dallas, TX - David Fonner
Houston, TX - Becky Tidwell
Los Angeles, CA - Christine Cho
New York, NY - Sandra Lau
Philadelphia, PA - Richard Price
San Francisco, CA - Carrie Baesler
Washington, D.C. - Charnetta Braziel

As the good Mr. Knoles mentioned, starting three days before Christmas (that's December 22nd, for those curious) the video performances for each of these contestants will be up at Konami's official Bemani site where you can vote for the winner. The person with the most votes is headed to Hollywood, simple as that.
