Today, Konami officially announced that they have inked a deal with Universal Interactive Studios to produce new games for next-generation consoles, including the Playstation2 and Dreamcast. The licenses picked up by Konami in this deal include Crash Bandicoot, The Thing (based on the movie by John Carpenterof the same name), and Jurassic Park 3 (expected in theatres sometime next summer). No official confirmations by Konami as of yet concerning which console these games would be developed for, but Konami is outspoken concerning it's support of Dreamcast and PS2. It should be noted that Microsoft announced their list of developers for the XBox, and Konami is on the list.
In terms of a wider play, the Crash Bandicoot license was a great snag, as well as the Jurassic Park 3 license. As for The Thing, Jim Wilson, senior VP and GM at UIS, said,[blockquote]"The Thing is a phenomenal franchise that gamers have been requesting for a long time. This franchise presents an incredible opportunity to draw upon Universal's rich movie history and today's technology to create a one-of-a-kind gaming experience."[/blockquote]Geez, it's not like Konami already had their hands full or anything! (note the sarcasm)
