Eidos and Io Interactive's Hitman series has done an impressive job of standing the test of time. What began as a PC product has morphed, happily adding console platforms as the series has progressed. Now, finally, the latest game in the series, Blood Money, will occupy three different generational platforms at the same time; PC, current- and next-gen consoles -- except that next-gen stuff isn't something we'll be able to experience as Sony whores until the next game, it would appear.
Yes, kids, Agent 47 is indeed Xbox 360 bound.
But, the good news is both the original PC where he was born and the PS2 where he found a loving home are both more than happy to welcome the guy back. And, lucky us, his latest adventure has zipped through various levels of approval, had coded Is dotted and Ts crossed, and been certified gold. For those that still don't know what "going gold" means, we'll explain it (and in the process, hopefully fill more space in this news story which really just amounts to 'it's done"):
When a game is completely done (or, uh, papa publisher says it's done, bugs and all) a copy of this final software is burned onto a gold disc (or it was once upon a time, now, it's just figurative for most), and sent off to the presser for mass production. This, this gold disc is read and stamped a bajillion times to meet the demand of fans of the series that just can't seem to get enough of contract killing. Now, as you read this, the discs are being pumped out, labeled, boxed, and will be in stores May 30th. That's less than two weeks!
And now you know...
