Thunder Strikes the PS2... Again!

Thunderstrike: Operation Phoenix makes its first post-E3 appearance, and it's a beaut. Check out 11 brand new shots inside.

We got a chance -- albeit a brief one -- to check out Thunderstrike at E3. While everyone at the Eidos booth insisted that the game was still quite early, it played like a dream and showed incredible promise. Say what you will about Core Design's previous programming efforts, but when it comes to the PS2, the dev house that Tomb Raider built has a firm grasp on the hardware. Between Herdy Gerdy and this game, any notion that the company is only good at developing blocky, slow-paced adventure games or weak, uninspired beat-em-ups should be quickly defeated.

Thunderstrike looks damn good, and for once, you won't have to take our word for it. The game looks as good in still shots as it does in motion, and we can at least provide you with stills of the game. While it's a wee bit in the late side, we're able to toss up the shot that Eidos shot out to us late last week. Take a look and see for yourself.

Bombs away!
A cockpit and an explosion
Love them explosions
Into a tunnel
Oooh, harrier
Destruction down below
Hooray for wingmen!
Bye bye tank
Gah! Lo-res explosions!
Die, plane, DIE!
Take THAT!
