Half-Life PS2 Ships

...But you won't see it in stores for another week.

Yes, the wait is finally over. Probably the most lavishly praised first-person shooter in games history, if not the most highly praised game ever, Half-Life has been able to ride high on a game that uses the friggin' Quake (yes, Quake ONE) engine for years beyond what other FPSes enjoy. Insanely addictive and utterly swell mods like Counter-Strike and Day of Defeat will ensure that for the PC market, that game will never die. Ever.

For consoles however, it's a different story. Consoles gamers probably haven't even experienced Half-Life yet, but that's about to change in just one short week. On November 14th, Half-Life will start showing up in stores all over North America, and a little over a week later, stores worldwide. What started out as Dreamcast port and has taken it's sweet time migrating to the PS2 will finally be experienced by gamers all over.

Of course, the PS2 version is more than just a simple port. There's the addition of high-polygon models and an exclusive co-op mode called Half-Life: Decay. We'll have a full review of Gearbox's console translation in the next few days.
