Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Announced

Heaven or Hell, Let's Rock!

Fighting to be the fighter with the most ridiculous name, Guilty Gear XX Accent Core is set to burst onto the Playstation 2 scene with enough letters to make a bow of Alphabits jealous. What's new? It's hard to surprise gamers with such a time honored classic as Guilty Gear, but we're promised that new characters, voices, stages, and a "retuned fighting system". That's all well and good, but it's to be expected. The selling point of GGXXAC is the new "Generations Mode", in which characters from different Guilty Gear games can face off for eternal glory.

For those who don't like their fighting games with a hint of plebian, Michael Manzanares' words are music to your ears: "Accent Core is definitely a game for the elite fighting game connoisseur, with its wickedly fast, technique oriented gameplay. Guilty Gear veterans will definitely enjoy finding out all the intricacies of their favorite characters and mastering all the new gameplay enhancements and systems".

Two new characters have been thrown into the Guilty Gear mix, A.B.A and Order-Sol, along with the usuals (and their EX counterparts). What are new characters without new fighting techniques? Aksysgl certainly doesn't know how to answer that question: they've introduced "force break", "throw escape", and "flash back". Along with several modes (Arcade, Medal of Millionaire, Versus, Survival and Training), GGXXAC looks like it's shaping up to be another solid title in the series with a few fresh additions for an aging system.
