Gran Turismo 4 Coming December 14, No Online Play

GT4's release date, now in stone, could only be met by axing the online play.

Sony Computer Entertainment America has announced an exact release date for its robust racer, Gran Turismo 4: December 3, 2004 in Japan, and less than two weeks later on December 14 in North America and European.

If having to wait another month for the game sounds disappointing to you, brace yourself for even more devastating news: in order to meet this date, Polyphony Digital had to drop the expected Online Mode from the final version of GT4.

Surely in attempt to prove to readers that Gran Turismo 4 will still offer the most complete racing experience out there, despite the lack of an Online Mode, SCEA made the confirmation on a few key aspects of the game. They are as follows:
[li]650 cars[/li]

[li]Up to 100 courses and unique race modes[/li]

[li]200 championship races[/li]

[li]New and enhanced racing modes, including GT Director Mode/B-spec, GT Photo Mode, GT Career Simulation Mode and GT Arcade Mode.

[li]Highly detailed car customization[/li]
So that's that: we'll see Gran Turismo 4 on December 14 without online gameplay. Let's hope the offline experience makes up for it, big time. Read up on what we know thus far here.
