"We are developing the game with a late 2003 release in mind. We are still in the process of working on the overseas version of Gran Turismo Concept, and plan to shift into the development of GT4 once we are done. It is still in early experimental stages, and we hope to have something running this year."

Those were the words of a spokesman from Sony Computer Entertainment talking to the Japanese publication Famitsu about latest installment in the popular racing series, Gran Turismo 4.

So there you have it, Gran Turismo 4 expected for a late 2003 release in Japan. Of course this isn't final so don't be shocked if it slips that time frame. At least we know its coming.
