Exclusive: Canadians To Wait EXTRA Day For GT3?

At least one Toronto-based supplier claims that they may not be getting their shipments of Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec until June 11th, 2001.

Gamers across North America have been waiting anxiously for the next installment in the Gran Turismo series - Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec to hit stores on June 10th, 2001.

It now seems, however, that at least one retailer in Canada may not be getting their shipments of the game in time for tomorrow's release date. Speaking to a representative for a local Toronto-based Compucentre store, their location will not be getting copies of Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec for tomorrow's release date. The store will instead be receiving their shipments on July 11th, 2001.

This means that anyone who pre-ordered the game from this specific retailer could be forced to wait a whole extra day before they can submerse themselves in what will surely become the greatest racing simulator of all time. What's more, is that this shipment delay was declared from Compucentre's head office, and that other locations, if not all, may experience a similar delay in obtaining their respective shipments.

Ironically, during the Canadian sneak preview of Gran Turismo 3, held earlier today, representatives for Sony Computer Entertainment Canada had stated that Electronic's Boutique would be the best location to get a copy of GT3 on launch day. Whether or not this was some sort of a weird coincidence remains a mystery.

Other Canadian retailers, such as Wal-Mart, chose not to run any special pre-order campaigns. So if you haven't yet pre-ordered the title in Canada, you may have a better chance at your local Wal-Mart store.

If you have pre-ordered a copy of GT3 from a Canadian-based Compucentre location, I strongly suggest calling the location to confirm that they will be receiving their shipments of the game on time.
