God Of War II Not In 720p Resolution On PS3
Contrary to reports at other media outlets, the second chapter in the revolutionary God Of War series will not be able to output at the 720p resolution on PlayStation 3 consoles, but at the standard 420p resolution.

Last week, a number of leading gaming websites covered a story first reported by IGN during their review of the much-acclaimed title; God Of War II. The game is being hailed as quite possibly the best and last great title that the PlayStation 2 will have to offer. In the review, IGN mentioned that the game would support the high-definition 720p resolution on PlayStation 3 consoles.
As it stands right now, newer PlayStation 2 games will output at a maximum resolution of 420p. Prior to this, earlier PS2 titles output at a resolution of 420i. You might recall the recent issues that the PlayStation 3 hardware had in displaying existing 420i titles – these issues have since been corrected with firmware updates. The ability to output at 720p wouldn’t have only been a milestone for a PS2 game, but it would have also allowed GOW to be displayed at a higher resolution and with greater detail on HDTV’s (that can support this resolution).
IGN updated their review this week with a bit of new information from Sony: As it turns out, God Of War II will not support the 720p resolution after all, but only 420p. Of course, this doesn’t change much about the game – it still looks just as beautiful with or without the upscale in resolution. Now of course the next big question to ask, is when will we start hearing about God Of War III for the PlayStation 3?
We will have our own review for God Of War II in the next coming weeks. Stay tuned for updates.
