Anime fans, you best rejoice over this one, as Squenix (ahem... Square Enix) announced today it has sent Fullmetal Alchemist 2: Curse of the Crimson Elixir out the door and onto stores shelves.

Serving as a prequel to the events of the first Fullmetal Alchemist game, this one starts you off in the city of Lior and finds the Elric brothers caught up in investigating the mysterious Leto cult. Things get even weirder when shady woman leaves them with a secretive ring without a word. What could Edward and Alphonse be getting themselves into?

Curse of the Crimson Elixir tops off what its predecessor offered with an improved alchemy system, slick cel-shading, and a good half hour of original animation. Fans of the TV series will be happy to know that a bonus DVD provides a sneak peek at the first two episodes of season 2 of Fullmetal Alchemist, to kick off this fall.

Fullmetal Alchemist 2: Curse of the Crimson Elixir is being served hot at retailers nationwide.
